Sam Lanier
Sports Journalist
My name is Sam Lanier and I am from Charleston, South Carolina. I am currently a Junior studying Sports Journalism at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Arizona State University. I aspire to cover professional sports for a living and my dream job would be to call an NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament game.

I am currently an intern at the Varsity Sports Show where we cover high school sports all across Arizona. My responsibilities include being a production assistant and a camera operator. This internship has helped me learn what the industry could look like and for that I am grateful.

ABOUT
I graduated from Carroll Senior High School with NHS Honors along with Quill and Scroll Society honors. In all 4 years of my high school I was a member of Student Council as spirit officer and as a senator. I was also apart of Young Men's Service League from 2018-2021. I participated in my school's yearbook club and news show. I was awarded the Scottish Right success scholar. I got the opportunity to do play-by-play for my high schools basketball team. I have experience in the broadcasting world as I have attended Play-by-Play Sports Broadcasting from 2017-2022, and in 2024 I was a counselor for the camp.
